Anette supports an Orphanages in Northen Bali who belongs to the organization, Panti Asuhan Yayasan Narayan Seva, began in 2004, following the Neo-Humanistic mission of “Self-realization and service to humanity.” Self-realization is defined as the ability to fulfill our fullest potential, where values of spirituality and morality align with one’s lifestyle and way of being in the world. We believe that spirituality and morality are the basis of human life, as living a spiritual life can help one strive to be free of selfishness and help remove the suffering of others. Through this approach, we hope to foster universal love and compassion in our children and to society as a whole through their contributions. Since their inception, they have opened our doors to over 80 children, providing them with the five minimum requirements of life: food, clothes, shelter, education, and medication.
Currently, their children reside in our compound, and are sent to schools around the area, from as young as pre-kindergarten to university.
They would like to start a school that reflects our mission and values of universal love, morality, and spirituality. Following the Sudbury model of education, we believe that success in life is determined by a person’s character more than knowing a specific body of knowledge. Instead of a rigid adherence to the typical “classroom” model, we believe in creating an environment that draws on the child’s inherent qualities such as creativity, having fun, independence, confidence, resourcefulness, adaptability, persistence, and responsibility. The classroom can exist outside of four walls: we would encourage students to draw on their interactions with nature, the environment, and animals to inform their learning. Students will be free to explore their passions, overcome their weaknesses, and develop their strengths, as they feel fit.
We hope that you will be interested in helping us raise funds for this project and you can donate directly to the Orphanages through their website narayanaserva dot com
